Sri Kanaka Durga Devi is the presiding deity of the Kanaka Durga temple in Vijayawada. She is one of the most powerful forms of Goddess Durga. "Kanaka" means gold, reflecting the golden hue of the deity. She is depicted as eight-armed, holding various weapons and symbols.
The Goddess is worshipped in different forms during Navaratri: Swarana Kavachalankarita Durga, Bala Tripura Sundari, Gayatri, Annapurna, Lalitha Tripura Sundari, Maha Lakshmi, Saraswathi, Durgadevi, and Mahishasura Mardhini.
